Happy Birthday Leslie! Leslie has been playing Dr. Monica Quatermaine since 1977! What would Port Charles have been without her? I can't even imagine. She played such a great character. I will always remember her love triangle with Rick and Alan.
Although she loved Rick, she was previously married to his brother Jeff but Alan was the love of her life. She had several affairs over the years - David Langton (had daughter Dawn), Pierce Dorman, Sean Donnelly.

She blessed us with the character of Carly back in 1996 to wreck her mother, Bobbie's life (and she did a great job)! She stayed as Carly until 2001.
While the character Carly has been recast (several times) Laura Wright made the role her own. So when Sarah Brown was asked to come back as a new character viewers were skeptical. But when she came back as Claudia Zacchara we practically said "she played who before?"

Happy 63rd Birthday Sharon Wyatt

Who could forget the beautiful Sharon Wyatt who played "actress" Elsie Mae Crumholz, Tiffany Hill Donnelly. She played Tiffany from June 1981 showing up on Cassadine Island as an obnoxious vain actress who was involved with Victor Cassadine. She later fell in love with Robert and then found her true love with Sean Donnelly. She left Gh in 1984, came back again in August 1986 and left for good in February 1995. Below watch her wedding to Sean - funny stuff.

 In 2011 Wyatt announced that she was suffering from ostenonecrosis  in her jaw, which she believed was the result of her use of the drug Fosamax. Due to this she has retired from acting, much to the dismay of her fans who miss her!

Remembering Philip Carey today

I know this is a General Hospital blog but I grew up (literally) watching ABC soaps and Asa Buchanan was a huge part of my childhood. I remember him in 1979 coming to Llanview and he seemed larger than life! I remember him with Mimi (even though I wanted Mimi with Bo!), Olympia scared me LOL and I loved him with Becky but most of all Renee was his soul mate. He was loud, obnoxious but he was kind and gentle. I imagine in real life him to be the same.  I loved Asa and hated him at the same time at some points.   

Did you know Carey died of lung cancer, less than a week after the death of Clint Ritchie, who played Asa's son Clint on One Life to Live from 1979 to 1998?

 Happy 79th Birthday Stuart! Back in
2006 Stuart  left Port Charles as his character Alan, which he played since 1977, died from a heart attack. We knew there would be a casualty from the Metro Court hostage storyline but no one wanted it to be Alan. Over the years he won us over. He first came on the show, upset that his wife Monica was still in love with someone else. In 1980, when he discovered she had an affair with Dr. Rick Webber and was pregnant. Everyone thought the baby was Rick's but it was in fact Alan's. He set up for the roof of the nursery to fall on Rick and Monica, however last minute he realized he would be the prime suspect so he ran in and saved them.  Here is a clip from 1980 ~

Over the years Alan & Monica's marriage survived many affairs (on both sides), his drug addiction, her breast cancer and many other obstacles.
